Welcome!
The Tampa Bay Section is the second largest
District in the Florida Chapter comprised of twelve
Counties that include Citrus, Desota, Hardee, Hernando,
Highland, Hillsborough, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk, Manatee, Sarasota and
Sumpter Counties. The section has over 100 members and meets quarterly. A
newsletter is issued periodically as well as e-mail blasts to inform members of
upcoming events, opportunities to participate in charitable and public service
roles with local government, professional development and networking with other
professions.
Section members represent the profession by engaging the public
and serving in volunteer roles throughout the community. This includes
participation in the design and construction of a Memorial Garden for the City
of Tampa's District 3 Police Department, participation on the
Metropolitan Planning Organization's Livable Roadways Committee,
Hillsborough County's Historic Preservation Grant Committee and the
University of Florida's Landscape Department Advisory Committee.
Upcoming Events:
The Tampa Bay Section of FLASLA is proud to announce our next
Section Event to be held on March 15, 2012 at the Tampa Bay Times Forum in
downtown Tampa. We will be 'the Thunder' sitting together behind the
opposing team's end zone at the upcoming hockey game between the Tampa Bay
Lightening and Toronto Maple Leafs, one of our major league competitors.
Over 40 members are already planning to attend! The Forum has just
undergone a $30 million dollar renovation and the special effects that they
have added are well worth the experience. If you have been looking for a good
excuse to attend a game with your family and friends-----this is your
opportunity!
The Florida Chapter and Tampa Section is also participating
as one of the sponsors of the Re-Stitch Tampa Design Competition to be held on
April 13th and 14th in downtown Tampa. The Section is assisting in the
organization of the event, representing the profession as a jurist in this
international design competition and participating as a
panelist discussant and presenter on sustainable landscape design
practices. For more information email section chair Ken Sussman.
