Education Committee - Future Plans
Emily O'Mahoney, Chair
FLASLA Education Committee
I am excited about getting things done! Do you know why? Because we have an Association Manager who will help us! Thank you Sue for your great ideas. Our goal is to provide a two-year calendar, matching the license renewal cycle. The membership will be able to plan when and where they will gain their credits. It will enable us to be proactive in finding courses and people, prepackaged and customized, that meet the needs of the whole membership. We will work with the Conference Committee to ensure the educational tracks at the annual chapter conference work within the plan.
Courses we have in mind are:
- Storm Water Management
- Florida Building Codes
- Taking Landscape Architecture to School – K12 – College
- Cisterns
- Water Reuse
- Green Roof
We are currently developing some courses and the Education Committee will meet fully for the first time on Monday, December 10, 2007 to get the plan moving forward. Please contact Emily O'Mahoney if you have questions at 561.575.9557 or Emily@landscape-architects.com.

Required Continuing Education for Florida Landscape Architects
Florida Law requires that Landscape Architects complete approved continuing education courses in order to renew their licenses on a biennial period. Licensees who fail to take the required hours will not be able to renew their licenses and the license will become delinquent or void. Also, licensees attempting to renew without the required continuing education may be fined up to $500. You are encouraged to take these courses as soon as possible to prevent any delays during the renewal period. Refer to the DBPR Continuing Education Providers list for more information.
