Share |

The Florida Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects will be meeting July 26-28th 2018 at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point in Bonita Springs, Florida.

The 2018 Conference will have classes and tours focusing on several tracks, each relating to the conference theme: Rooted in Treasure. We highly encourage presentations to be creative, and create an immersive experience for attendees. If you feel that you need to think "outside of the classroom" please do so to make that interactive atmosphere. The educational course presentations should follow one of the following tracks as the focus of rooted in treasure:

  • Rooted in History – Courses/Tours defining the significance of historical places &  designs (Koreshan, Edison-Ford, private gardens, etc.)

  • Rooted in the Environment – Courses/Tours directly related to the protection and promotion of natural resources (i.e. The Calusa Blueway, Climate change, mangrove trimming, etc.)

  • Rooted in Community – Courses/Tours covering current public design efforts (i.e. Fort Myers / Bonita Springs redevelopment)

  • Rooted for Growth – Courses featuring future trends, and new research in Landscape Architecture

Each speaker will receive a one day pass to the conference for the day they present.

Hotel Room is NOT included. Speakers are responsible for their own accommodations.

All courses selected will be processed for professional approval through Florida Board of Landscape Architects, LA CES (accepted in most states), AICP, and APA.  Please note that not all courses will qualify for APA credit.  Minimum course length is 1 hour with a minimum of 50 minutes of instruction.  Sessions can be 1, 1-1/2 or 2 hours in length.

Health, Safety & Welfare:

Please keep in mind that approval of courses through Florida Board of Landscape Architecture requires that the courses address health, safety and welfare of the public as landscape architecture licensure is based upon landscape architects protecting the public.  Approval through LA CES also requires that a minimum of “75% of the subject matter applies the principles of mathematical, physical, and social sciences in consultation, evaluation, planning, design (including, but not limited to the preparation and filing of plans, drawings, specifications, and other contract documents), and administration of contracts relative to projects principally directed at the functional and aesthetic use and preservation of land.”

Thank you for supporting the 2018 FL ASLA Conference in Bonita Springs through your educational seminars! We look forward to receiving your applications and making this conference one of the most educational and enjoyable to date.
